WHO WE ARE

Centre for Management Creativity is a facilitation and coaching practice. It is the creator of High Trenhouse Management Centre and LogoVisual Thinking methodology with its associated tools and software. The present business, established in 1989, is a development of an experiential learning centre established in 1976.

CMC has worked with major client organisations across all sectors on aspects of strategy innovation, performance improvement, leadership and high performance teamwork. This has included accelerated development of partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, development of corporate purpose, vision and business plans, integrating departments, senior team development and executive coaching.

John Varney, founder and chief executive of CMC, works with senior managers to develop strategic dynamism and manage cultural changes. A mountaineer and psychological group leader with a first career in architecture, John has a capacity for awakening people's innate creative capabilities and awareness of leadership responsibility. His original and sometimes unusual methods evoke a positive response, resonating with people's deeper consciousness and tapping latent potential. His extensive experience of developing systems thinking, creative processes and human aspects of enterprise produces exceptional results.

Dan Varney has over 10 years experience in developing processes for supporting and capturing creative work in corporate and education sectors and the tools that make it possible. Dan has facilitated strategy and innovation teams in major organisations and, as LVT project manager in education, has supported LEA advisory teams and teachers across the UK with thinking skills training and consultancy.

Bernadette Schutte, manager and co-founder of CMC, has many years experience of supporting group learning processes. Bernadette has contributed particularly to shaping the uniquely supportive character of the High Trenhouse residential centre. She has done much to develop Real-Time Knowledge Capture, enabling management teams to build on the knowledge created in interactions. Her coaching experience and ability to facilitate relationships, supports personal and group learning processes.

Associates in Organisational Work

Malcolm Follos is an accomplished management consultant with a successful track record in assisting a wide variety of organisations with managing the process of change. Malcolm's style has been described as pragmatic, humorous and enthusiastic and he has the proven ability to relate to people on the shop floor as well as those who operate in the rarefied atmosphere of the boardroom.

Richard Copley was Strategic Solutions Director, HML (Homeloan Management Ltd) with responsibility for strategy and planning, IT, Business Process Management, Programme and Project Management, all adding up to a role leading the corporate transformation process. He has more than 25 years experience in the IT industry, and has spent the last ten years working in business transformation. He has worked for three major IT consultancies, in the UK , North America , South Africa , and a number of European countries. He was previously Business Development Director at Xansa, and Solutions Director, Financial Services for CSC Europe.

Lois Willis met significant challenges in senior NHS roles, before a period as Chief Executive. Currently Lois manages a portfolio of commissions focused on policy development, leadership and partnership issues. She is experienced in leading change, developing partnerships, building teams and delivering performance improvements across all sectors. As a volunteer she chairs various charitable bodies

Paul Hollingworth is a highly motivated systems thinker and practical organiser with over 30 years’ experience in the field of performance improvement. Following his career as a senior manager and internal consultant, Paul has successfully used his strong people skills and pragmatic approach to help dozens of diverse organisations to improve performance through adding customer value and eliminating waste. Paul specialises in strategic organisational development. He works with governing bodies and management teams, influencing and changing their ways of managing, to build customer-focused learning organisations.

Piers Ibbotson originally trained as a scientist, and spent a number of years in the oil industry before entering the theatre in 1980. He enjoyed a successful career as a performer, working at the Royal National Theatre and the RSC, as well as making appearances in TV and film. In 1990 he became an Assistant Director of the RSC, where he worked alongside some of Britain ’s best directing talent. Observing the techniques of directors, working to tight deadlines with dynamic creative groups, sparked his interest in the transfer of skills from the arts to business.

Mike Cambray focuses on performance coaching for individuals in organisations. He has in-depth knowledge of the NHS (especially doctors), banking and insurance, the oil industry, and the food and drink sector. Making extensive use of MBTI, and the Birkman Method ( www.birkman.com ), his work focuses on developing individual performance in an organisational setting. Most of his clients are leaders and managers up to board level.

Richard Heath is a Web developer and author on ancient astronomy, with degrees in electrical and computer engineering. He has worked for many years on software to support thinking including the original Hexagon Modeller , Mind Maps Plus and the Crealogic groupware at www.crealogic.nl. He lives in Scotland

Anthony Blake studied history and philosophy of science at Cambridge and then worked with John Bennett over fifteen years on fourth way methods and educational research. He has been management consultant, school teacher, writer and publisher and was educational consultant to the original Biosphere 2 project. Author of ‘A Seminar on Time’, ‘the Intelligent Enneagram’, ‘Intelligence’ and ‘Structures of Meaning’ as well as titles relating to the methods of systematics and structural communication he helped Bennett develop.
